Arom Cleric, Cleric, who the hell does he think I am? His servant?
Sorry Coylian, I've already used my spell on the dead cleric overthere. And I don't have a potion to cure your wounds. If we can find a safe place where I can rest, I will cure you as best as I can.

Varick
Thank the Mother, it's over. Are you going to make it Coylain? Arom are you ok?
After checking that the survivors are ok, Varick picks-up his weapons. He then looks for a clearing nearby where he can build a funeral pyre for Graveshroud.

((You may want to think about keeping his equipment and gold. Equipment can be sold, and he had some expensive stuff.))

Arom I pick up my sling.
Burying Graveshroud is the least we can do. He deserves a decent burial.

Varick Let's check out that pile of leaves before it gets dark. I hope it's not the lost elf that we are looking for.
((Modified by the GM. I have something in store for our dear Graveshroud.))

Coylian I pick up my bow and limp in pain towards Graveshroud. I stand over him for 5 sec then say: well done...brave man. I tear some piece of cloth from him and do a bandage over my wounds. I turn around to face the group what now

Varick starts looking for some dead wood to build a funeral pyre for their companion Graveshroud. As he bows down to grab a small branch, he recoils as he realizes that he was about to grab, not a branch, but a snake. He takes a step back, unsheathing his longsword but the serpent does not seem to care much about him. Relieved, Varick sheathes his blade again but as he does so he sees another serpent, then another and another. Quickly there are dozens, nay hundred of serpents of different kind and size making their way toward the dead body of Graveshroud. The wriggling mass of limbless reptiles squeezes itself underneath the cleric's body and slowly he starts to move away. Lying over a living mass of snakes, they carry him as if he was on some kind of self moving rug. You are tempted to attempt to scare them away but one black serpent detaches himself from the group and, standing half upright, looks straight at you.
You don't know why or how it happened but you suddenly all have the feeling that you should not pursue your friend's body. That he his going to a place where you cannot go and that it is as it must be. You relax your stance, giving a long last look at the lifeless shell of your former comrade as it disappears in the undergrowth. You look again at the black snake in front of you and you get the strange impression that it subtly nods at you before leaving.

As Varick had hypothesized, there is indeed the skeleton of a hapless elf buried under the pile of leaves. Everything he bore has turned to rot and ruin, save a filthy metallic shield.
As you finish searching the area you notice an almost invisible path that seems to lead even further into the woods. Though it almost completely overgrown and quite difficult to see, it is actually the first time you ever saw something resembling a trail in these woods.
It must be leading somewhere...

Varick
Although I respected his beliefs, I didn't really put much stock in his god before, but now, after seeing that, I have to admit I have a renewed sense of respect for Yig.
Ok, we found the elf, let's take his shield it could be useful. Now, I say we carry on to see if we can find that lost elven city. Maybe we'll find another way back to the keep on the other side of the forest. What do you guys think?

Coylian
We can continue but I will be no use in a fight, did you guys see how I sacrifice myself so that the Elf could do the killing blow. I say with a touch of pride in my voice. This was spectacular.
