The adventurers enter the bogs full of apprehension at what danger might lurk amidst the murky waters. They slosh through, the fetid liquid sometime reaching as high as their waste. Gratefully, due to a mix of cautiousness, luck and skill they manage to come out of the fens and reach the dry ground of the evergreen forest. You take a short break, drying your clothes, wiping the filth of your armor and eating a portion of your rations ((remove 1/3 ration from your character sheet)).
As you pack your things and prepare to leave you look at the forest, plunging your gaze deep between the layers of trees. Instantly, you feel a cold sweat slowly going down your spine. Something evil lies there and you feel that even the trees are dark, twisted and corrupted. You steel yourself for what might be coming and bravely head in.
After around half an hour of exploration you come upon a part of the forest where the trees are covered in thick spider webs. You can't advance an inch without having to push aside some webbings. You stop for a moment and listen for any sign of danger but you can't hear anything. None of the sounds common to the woods. Just complete silence; everything seems to be standing still, quiet, waiting.
Thirty feet away from where your standing is a big pile of leaves. Something strange seems to be sticking out of it. It looks like something metallic. What might it be?

Graveshroud
Varick, you should go have a look to see what is in the leaves.

VarickAre you afraid of a few little spiders? All kidding aside, the spiders that left these webs behind are probably anything but small.Varick takes his sword in hand, and looks for a few rocks that he can throw at the pile of leaves. He also plans on throwing a few at the ground leading to the pile. Keep your eyes open guys, and check upwards in the trees as well.

Coylian
Just be careful Varick and don't linger over there. I get my longbow and notch an arrow looking at the pile of leaves and at the spider webs

Varick, I'll be watching out for spiders. Anyone got that potion from that priest?

Graveshroud
Graveshroud looks at Varick with a very calm expression and responds to his quip in an even, grumble of a tone. "Yes, spiders make me nervous and they should make you nervous as well. One bite and you will feel more than discomfort, you will feel death. Not immediately, you will suffer first, but you will surely die of it." He then looks at each of the adventurers as he speaks. "Keep your guard up, all of you, and if we should be attacked by more than one creature focus all of your efforts on the same one."
He then raises Morbious and holds the pommel firmly in his two large, battle scarred hands while observing the surroundings above, around and on the ground.

The adventurers, their weapons at the ready, look around and above for any sign of danger. However they cannot really see above them as the light is obscured by both the tall pines and firs and by the thick spider webs.
Varick picks up a couple of small stones and throw them at the pile of leaves in front of him. On his third throw he manages to hit the partially hidden object and all hear the stone ricochet on metal.
Suddenly, not ten feet away from Varick, a huge black spider drops to the ground from its hiding place up in the trees. On its back is an intriguing red design resembling an hourglass. The adventurers, on their guard, are not surprised by the sudden appearance of the creature. But all are wary of the green venom that drips from its two six inches long fangs.
Please state your actions for the first round of combat.

Arom Oh my god, how did I forget about my sling? I take my sling out and add a bullet. Guys, be careful! I'll be swinging my sling around.
I move sideways in order to have a clear view of the spider. As soon as I have enough velocity, I aim at the spider and I let go the bullet.

Graveshroud
Observing the red marking on the spider, Graveshroud decides it is best to let the spider approach the party instead of venturing into what seems to the the spider's lair. Once close enough he will swing at the foul beast with all of his might and strike the creature with Morbius.

Varick
Varick drops his sword as he backs away gently to the side of his companions all the while getting his crossbow ready. He hopes that he and Arom will have clear shots at the spider's flanks while the others attack it from the front.
