The next exchange begins with adventurers and monsters acting in unison.
While backing away toward open ground, Keltin swings his warhammer at the Ogre but hits only the gigantic beast's fat belly, his attack harmless. However, the monstrous humanoid hit him from above and pound him hard into a gelatinous mass of human organs. In the meanwhile, Firali attempts to carry Mimosa's body outside of the watchtower while defending himself from the onslaught of the last surviving hobgoblin. Regretfully, a thrust from the monster's blade gets past the Elf's guard and pierce right through his heart. The elven warrior falls down blood spurting from his nose and mouth. Teekan fires two arrow from his quiver but both misses their mark. Aas a comforting thought, Fern is able to light up his torch. Brandishing it high to show all of his companion that he was able to do it, he realizes just now what carnage just happened.
From the surrounding forest the surviving members of the expedition hear a loud battlecry. Mustering all his courage and strength, Hilgrim, atop Daisy the warmule, charges the hobgoblin his longsword ready to strike a deadly and glorious blow to the monster. But, by a strange twist of fate, Daisy stumbles and sends her riders and her packs flying to the ground. Stunned, but mostly hurt in his pride, the stable boy slowly stands up and prepares to defend his life.

Hilgrim you fool, I told you to run! When Teekan sees his friends go done, and the Ogre come out from the tower, he shouts... Daisy, Fern, to town! He then runs for the forest for cover, hoping to lose his enemies.

((I think I have not made it clear, but since everything happened at the same time you are actually outside now. Hilgrim and Fern are the closest to the Ogre, with Teekan being farther away. I'm waiting for the survivors actions to post up the result of the next round.))

Just like NILBOG ... I hate the bloody goblins
Realizing that without oil, the torch will barely harm the Monster, Fern drops it and makes a run for it. Instinctively he is heading for Brem.
Run for your life

Still a little dazed from falling off the mule, Hilgrim hears and sees the other two run towards the forest.
Good job on this one... Now, for sure, I'll never get paid...
((If Daisy is close enough, he "slaps" her on the rear to make her run in the forest))
Go! Mule! Go!
He turns to the others and runs as fast as he can towards the forest.

Horrified at the death of their fellow adventurers, the party decides to retreat to the forest. However, the monsters are faster than them and strike first. The Ogre approach the wizard and swings his gigantic club at Fern, trying to make some mage mash potatoes but misses wildly. The hobgoblin goes for Hilgrim and attempts to cut him in half with his sword but the brave stable boy blocks the blow with his shield.
Hoping luck is with them, our three intrepid heroes start running for their lives. Fern drops his torch and tries to run for it. Seeing his quarry's attempt to flee, the Ogre reaches out for one last swipe of his weapon. He catches the powerless wizard right in the hips. Fern double black flip and lands on the ground with nearly all of his bones broken. Hilgrim slaps Daisy on her rear and starts after her, dodging the hobgoblin's strike as he flees. Teekan being farther away, goes for it without facing opposition.
((The next round.)) The Ogre and hobgoblin both try to pursue the adventurers but quickly realize that they are not fast enough to catch up to them. Once they reach the forest's border, they stop running and slowly back away to the tower.
You stop a couple of hundred meters deep in the wood when you realize that you aren't pursued. From the watchtower direction you hear a thunderous victory cry. Teekan quietly whistles for Daisy and gets a hold of her bridle. It is still raining but the trees' foliage are giving you some sort of cover. You are in the latter half of the afternoon and could get back to Brem, if you wish to, just after dusk.
What do you do?
Mechanics: Initiative: Party 3 Monsters 5 Ogre attacks Fern 3 (Miss) Fern flees from melee Ogre free attack Fern 16 (Hit), 5 (4 + 1) damage, Fern dies Hobgoblin attacks Hilgrim 7 (Miss) Hilgrim flees from melee Hobgoblin free attack Hilgrim 8 (Miss)

As the Oger hammer was breaking Fern ribs one by one ... first rib ... the poor wizard ... second rib ... was seeing his life ... third rib ... flashes in front of him ... First Nilbog, then Brem ... but the only regret was for Gallaine. With his last breath, chocking on his blood, he attempts to say
Tell Gallaine I'm ... argh ... sor ...egrs ..too
Then something weird happened. He was standing there, just beside the Oger, but the Monster did not notice him, so he ran after Teekan.
Eh! Teekan, slow down a bit.
But Teekan was ignoring him.

Teekan and Daisy rejoin Hilgrim as they head back to town. Hilgrim, that was courageous, but not what I agreed to pay for. You risked Daisy's life, and now all my precious belongings are lost. Still, your diversion may have saved my life. I think you have proven yourself, I don't have any gold left, but if you join me, I would be happy to be your partner. When we get back to town, we should find Captain Raban Starke and get more volunteers to rid this land of that Ogre and his hobgoblins. Then we can give our friends a proper farewell . I am sure there is treasure in that tower, but we have to be fast before they move it, or before they get re-enforcements. They may even try to ambush us if we return. Still, we owe it to our friends. If these volunteers prove themselves, maybe we can get them to come to Akban.

((So you want to return to the watchtower by yourselves? You could also tell Captain Raban Starke that you found their location, killed three and he might send his force to mop up the rest. Of course that mean you don't get dibs on the treasure inside but it is also the safest option. You and Pat, tell me here your course of action and I'll close the thread and start Chapter 3.))
