A couple of minutes before the sun reaches its zenith, Morstad and Mimosa joins the others at the inn. Morstad (in his brand new leather armor) explains that he asked around town a bit, checked for Moon Metal with the merchants of the market square but none had any idea about what it is. Discreetly, Mimosa confirms that Morstad said the truth and did not due anything suspicious this morning.
Our merry band of adventurers decide to accept the militia's proposal to hunt down the hobgoblin warband. The Captain will pay them 10 gold pieces per dead hobgoblin head.
You leave for the northern forest right after lunch (provided graciously by Captain Starke at the barrack). You had started your journey for more than an hour when the sky got filled with dark grey ominous clouds. Rain quickly ensued and you are forced to hide under your long cloaks to follow the now muddied trail.
After an additional three hours of arduous trekking under continuous precipitations, you stumble upon a one hundred meters wide forest clearing with a ruined two-story outpost tower in its centre. A corner of the cornice has fell down in rubbles to the ground and it has no windows. The double door to the entrance is long gone but in its place are multiple wooden planks forming a sort of barricade.
You are on the outskirts of the clearing, nothing seems to move in or around the outpost. The ground is slippery due to the constant downpour but the rain covers noises a bit.
What do you do?

Firali stands at the edge of the woods, behind the trees and contemplates the situation. He then turns to the group and speaks loud enough for his friends to hear him, but not too loud that the sound would travel over any fair distance...
The tower would make an excellent respite from this downpour. I am concerned, however, about the distance between our position and the tower, with no cover. The fact that the door is barricaded could mean that there is someone inside, watching the clearing, or it could simply mean it is condemned. I think it is the former, not the latter. If there is indeed someone inside, we must approach carefully and with some strategy. Ideas?

I think it's worth checking out. It would make an excellent defensive fall-back location if ever we ran into trouble. I could go scout it out if you want? But then again, there is strength in numbers, we could just all walk up to it cautiously.
(( What are the details of our mission? What information did Captain Starke give us exactly? Are we close to where they have been sighted? ))

((You are indeed in the region where the hobgoblins have been sighted. Captain Starke didn't give much more details than go in that sector, find hobgoblins and bring back their heads.))

Firali pauses a moment and thinks about having a scout go look, but knowing the constitution of his fellow adventurers he decides otherwise.
Let us approach as a group, cautiously. If anyone spots anything, let all other members know immediately. No matter how mundane, let us all know.
Taking a short breath and pausing for a second, Firali continues...
I would deeply regret losing a co-adventurer on this foolish errand when we have true glory waiting for us.

Keltin doesn't like this one bit and grunts his disapproval. "If you sneak in, at least do it when the sun is down and they can't see you come from a good hundred feet. That's common sense.", he pauses for emphasis, "Unless you like to run and evade arrows and bolts. I suggest a sneak-in just to see if there's hobgoblins in that but I wouldn't attack this structure. Too easy to defend."
Keltin frowns his big brows, "My plan is simple. We wait until they come out and then if they're not that much, we take them by surprise or if they're too much we wait until they're gone to salvage whatever they stock in this stronghold.", he spits his usual, "I won't do 2 for 1 for 10 gold a piece."

First of all, it's raining a lot, so visibility is not that great, and the noise is muffled by the rain drops hitting the leaves. Secondly, who says there are any hobgoblins in there anyways. I don't want to wait here getting soaked all day for no reason. So, I'll go check it out. You guys could enter the clearing and cross to the other side while skirting the forest, this would draw their attention while I sneak closer from this side to determine who and how many are in there. If any thing goes wrong, let's meet in the forest towards town. If all is clear, I'll meet you on the other side. Teekan waits for the others approval before heading out.

I do not think that splitting up is a good idea. We could try approaching from 2 sides as 2 groups. There is less danger if we at least remain partial groups that can rejoin quickly.

((I'll need a consensus from everybody by tomorrow or I'll suppose that Teekan goes alone to scout while the others wait under the cover of the trees.
BTW, I'm not doing this to put pressure on you guys but I have to be the guy that keeps thing moving.))
