Same action as posted before. Fern will not engage until he knows what is in the tower. If he does not have ligne of sight, he will move to do so while keeping a safe distance.
((Is the rope still hanging from the tower wall?)

This time, it is the adventurers that have the upper hand. But they first get their feet wet, with oil. Teekan throws his oil flask at the entrance of the tower, it tears up on one of the sleeping hobgoblin's armour and splashes oil all around. Mimosa and Keltin make haste and sprints inside the tower to press their advantage (stepping in a bit of oil in the process). The interior room is about 20x20 feet with hay beds and broken furniture strown around. They see a ladder going up to the second floor and a large wooden trapdoor in the stone floor. There are only two more hobgoblins inside. Mimosa swings his mace at one of the monster but his enemy ducks just in time, stabbing the cleric with his sword in the process. Keltin strikes the other hobgoblin straight in the stomach. The monsters staggers and fail at his counter-attack. Outside, Firali swings a mighty blow from Firavel and behead one of the sleeping hobgoblin. Fern, proud of his last intervention, runs back toward the tower ready to help his companions.
Mechanics: Initiative: Party 5 Monsters 3 Flask of oil breaks (5 in 6 chances) (Succeed) Mimosa attacks Hobgoblin 11 (12 - 1) (Miss) Keltin attacks Hobgoblin 17 (16 + 1) (Hit), 2 damage (1 + 1) Hobgoblin attacks Mimosa 12 (Hit), 1 damage Hobgoblin attacks Keltin 4 (Miss)

Firali turns to the other sleeping goblin and swings Firavel in order to behead the second beast. All the while he continues yelling...
Die foul beast, feel my wrath!
((After killing the second, Firali will enter the tower and attack the 2 hobgoblins that are inside.))

Always thinking ahead, Fern devise another plan while running toward the tower entrance. At first, he will try to hit one of the 2 hobgoblins taking cover from behind his friend if he can ((Dom tell me if it is doable with a staff)) if not he will simply wait for his friends to kill the 2 foes. Then, he will look around to find a way to jam the trap door shut in case there are more hobgoblins in the basement. Finally, he will fix his hat at the extremity of his staff and lift it through the second floor hatch as a decoy, expecting hobgoblins to attack it if by bad luck some of them are up there.
((Dom I know this is a lot of action/rounds but this is what Fern has in mind and he will try to do so unless the unfolding events prevent him))

Teekan climbs the rope to the top of the tower and plans to use his sword to finish off the two other sleeping hobgoblins.
(( I know it's wet but I have good strength and dexterity, and I don't weigh that much. ))

((Sorry Mario, I was wrong yesterday it applies to spears and polearms. It makes sense since a staff doesn't have a sharp tip to strike with and is normally used with wide side swings. Here the text from the CR p.20:
Spears and Polearms Spears and polearms in the second rank of a battle formation can attack by reaching through the first rank of Fighting-men.))[/i]

((Let it be known that Keltin is no coward and will die for glory and/or 60 gold pieces! In all fairness, we killed two, they killed two... It's a pretty fair match so far but I think they ran out of gas and we're still outnumbering them. Still, it's always nice to be polite and offer them a choice.))
"Surrender or die!", he shouts. If Keltin's got their attention, he will add: "We killed two, you've killed two. You're outnumbered and there's someone right now at the top of the tower ready kill your partners if I shout. Surrender your treasures and we will spare your lives."
(If the hobgoblins try to attack, Keltin will not surrender initiative and will fight.)

The hobgoblins hear Keltin's proposal but only answer with wicked grins showing their yellow teeth. It seems they know more than you do. Outraged, the warrior takes a mighty swing of his warhammer and hits his enemy squarely in the ribs. A loud crack can be heard resonating inside the chamber. The hobgoblin his projected to the wall where he crashes, dead. Again, our brave cleric attempt to attack his foe but misses barely. It seems Hlenp is not on his side during this fight. With another gracious swipe of his blade, Firali ends the life of another monster and enters the tower to help his companions finish the fight. Outside, Teekan the halfling takes hold of Keltin's rope, still hanging alongside the wall, and attempts to climb to the top. He decides not to place his feet on the slippery stone surface and instead to climb using only the strength of his arms ((strength check)) to lift himself up. However, a few feet off the ground, the rope slips from his grip and he falls down hardly on his buttocks. Not finding an opportunity to help his comrades with his darts, Fern decides to wait while they dispatch the last monster. Mimosa's foe strikes home again with his blade and slashes the priest across the chest. With blood pouring down from his various wounds, Mimosa crumbles to the floor unconscious. At the same moment the hobgoblin lets out a victorious cry, the trapdoor on floor bursts open and a huge ten feet tall creatures emerges. It looks like a tall brutish human, his rough skin a dull beige. It wears cured furs and hide and wield a gigantic wooden club. "Puny humans..." it yells, "You slaughter minions, you die."((Jo, that proposal was a bit long to say and still keep the possibility to attack. I let it slide since I supposed you wouldn't have risked it knowing you would not be able to attack (and I already rolled the mechanic for the round when I saw your post . But keep in mind that all that you character does in a round needs to roughly fit in 10 seconds.)) Mechanics: Initiative: Party 5 Monsters 4 Keltin attacks Hobgoblin 19 (18 + 1) (Hit), 3 damage (2 + 1), Hobgoblin dies Mimosa attacks Hobgoblin 9 (10 - 1) (Miss) Hobgoblin attacks Mimosa 12 (Hit), 3 damage, Mimosa fall unconscious Teekan strength checks to climb up rope 16 (Fail)
