Upon learning of the approximate location of the lizardmen lair, Sir Pelandres inquires about the possibility of borrowing a boat from one of the local fishermen. One of them (who Lombdas might recognize from the beginning of this adventure) graciously offers the knight to borrow his canoe for free for the day. With all preparations completed, Sir Pelandres straps a pack of supply on his shoulders, leaves his white stallion to the care of the Keep's grooms and departs on the stony trail with the adventurers in tow.
Close to the road, hidden in a bush they find the fisherman's canoe. The group embarks with Sir Pelandres at the bow and start going up the river. The current is not too strong, the sun is high and warm and the trip is pleasant. You feel confident that the expedition will go well, especially with such a strong and charismatic leader by your side. After about half an hour of rowing you disembark on the southern bank of the river and start slogging through the fens. It takes you another hour of damp, arduous trekking to reach an imposing mound of mud that no "normal" animal would have been able to create. Sir Pelandres gestures you to all crouch down in the waters. He whispers "I believe we have found it my friend. Lizardmen are nocturnal creatures who normally aren't seen during the day. But I'm pretty sure that as soon as we'll start disturbing the mound's surface, they'll sense the vibrations and the warriors will come right up the central hole over there. We'll spread in a wide half-circle and approach the mound straight on. Beltyne, stay in the back with your spells at the ready. If they don't come out we'll drop some flaming oil on them. If any of you is severely wounded, don't be a hero and retreat to safety. But please let your comrades know that you've created a gap in the line. Understood?" He stands up unsheathing his gleaming longsword and starts walking towards the mound.
He hasn't stepped more than a couple of feet on the mound that rapidly emerges six large lizardmen warriors. They are large scaly humanoids (over 6' tall) that resemble humans but have the heads and tails of lizards. Each bear a crude spear. They hiss and spit as they see you spread into formation, Sir Pelandres at the centre. Sir Pelandres' blade starts to glow with a bright light and he prepares to lunge at the closest lizardmen.
Please state your actions for the first round of combat.
