Lombdas
Lombdas looks back at the scroll and notices something that he hadn't seen before. He very subtly turns it right-side up and finds what he was looking for...
This scroll has magic markings but I don't have the skill to understand what it means. I'll keep it until I learn how to read it. I suppose we can go down in the pit.

Varick
Coylain, I'll hold on to the coins and the vial for now. ((I already added them to my character sheet.)) We will split everything once we are back at the keep, ok? Lombdas, you can hold on to the scroll.

((Please specify the marching order (including Wergrim who might not automatically want to go first) before continuing.))
Illuminated by Coylian's torch, the party slowly go down the rough spiraling staircase carved out of the dirt and rock. The staircase is steep and fairly narrow, without enough space to fight more than one abreast.
At the bottom of the stairs a passage leads to a barred iron door. The odd thing is that the heavy wooden beam barring the door is actually on your side.

Coylian [/b] I go first... Hey guys can you see this door, should I open it? I pause to think. Maybe its a cellar with rare cheeses from Karameikos.

Lombdas
I go second.
I don't see why you would block a door like this unless it to prevent a bear or other animal to get in. You don't put Karameikos cheese in an underground hole like this, it goes in a vault! My gut tells me that this door prevent something from getting OUT of here...

By the way, the wooden beam is made of the kind of wood you would find in any forest... Possibly oak.

The iron door opens onto a 90' x 90' chamber with a 30' high ceiling. The walls are reinforced with stone brick, but in many places the bricks have crumbled and fallen away, revealing loose dirt.
By the light of your torch you can see in the room two cages. One on the northern wall and one on the southern one. From the doorway where you stand you can see that both cages contains scraps of clothing of linens. Bolted on the floor are three pairs of shackles and also on the east wall there are two large stone slabs with hand and foot-irons. The slabs have multiple dark red stains on them. On the other walls stand racks with multiple implements of torture such as a whip, saws, branks, a tongue tearer, an heretic's fork, etc...
At the centre of the room is a large 4' diameter well that plunges into the darkness. A couple of feet east of it, is a large iron bell mounted between two upright stone slabs. A rope tied to it goes straight into the ceiling by a small hole.

Also, Coylian is in the room, Lombdas is in the doorway with Wergrim behind him. Arom and Varick are still upstair in the oak.
