(( Ok, so we all pay 1GP for finding the hirelings. Popakee pays 8GP for both hirelings for two days. We will pay him back the next time we get some treasure. Hilgrim sells Teakan's WAR mule for 10GP (try to negotiate)? The rest of us are waiting in town for Graveshroud to return so that we can head off to Akban before dark. ))
While Graveshroud is not around... That Graveshroud is very strange, talks to snakes, and worships Seth? I don't know about him. Seems he can handle himself in a fight though. Not sure it's a bad thing that there are things in Akban that are opposed to Seth? As long as he doesn't push his religion on me, and as long as his god leaves me alone, I guess I don't really care who he worships. What do you guys think?

((Xerses, I posted this one minute after you in the previous page. I do not know if you saw it. BTW, as a general rule of thumb (in case you think I am only a greedy bastard), when I ask for cash it doesn't mean it is the only solution. But it may be the simplest.)) Graveshroud arrives at the monastery and asks permission to consult its library. The monks are suspicious about letting any one other than one of the brothers consult it. They offer you to search the information for you for a 10 gold pieces fee. They would give you the result of their research the following day.

You sell the mule for 10 gold pieces to the farmer. He seems happy with the transaction and give you a heartfelt salute. As they both leave the market square, Daisy turns her head back and gives one last look at Hilgrim with sad eyes. You almost see a tear.
At 4 gold pieces per day for both hirelings that means 2 gp each. Parvay is not interested. He is ex-militia, brings his own equipment and won't work for peanuts. However, Rawick a slender fellow with long blonde hair and quality clothing is ready to follow you at that price.

Rawick, I think you misunderstood. It was 4gp for both, not necessarily 2gp each. We just need a torch bearer, and for that, the going fee is 1gp. Why the hell would we pay you 2gp!? Parvay, would you take 3gp for now and then we could re-adjust your fee when we come into some loot?
(( What does the rest of the group think, do we really won't them? I don't want to pay another 5gp to look for more, and I don't want to stay another night here. ))

Parvay waves his hand in dismissal and tells you that he will be at the tavern once you decide to pay him reasonably.
Rawick answers, "Hummm, gentleman... uhhhh dwarf, I propose to you and your group to keep it at two pieces of gold per day but I will pay by myself the cost of my rations. Does this proposal seems satisfactory?"
((Check with the book it basicaly saves you the upkeep cost which pretty much brings it back to 1gp/day + upkeep the standard.))

Why in the seven hells would I pay you 10gp to look at books that I can bloody well read myself. On top of it all you would make me wait until tomorrow for information! Do you know how many whores I can have for 10gp and they won't make me wait for my load... if you get my meaning.
I will give you 1gp for yourself, don't tell any of the other brothers, you go get yourself a wench or a boy, whatever turns your robe, and let me look at those books.

The brother lets the coin fall to the ground and prevents Graveshroud from entering the monastery with his arm and hand extended in a stop gesture. "Do not insult me traveler. Press on and you will discover that some of us are far more than simple bookworms. Pay us dutifully and respectfully for our work or leave. In any case, even if you entered and searched by yourselves it would take you days just to locate the correct tomes in our library."
((You will be back for the other conversation depending on what you do here. If you leave now, whether you pay or not you'll arrive on time. If you press on or attempt something at the monastery you'll miss it.))
