You try to look through the boarded door by a fissure but don't seem to find one big enough to peek through. The crumbled part is the upper cornice by the roof of the tower ((this part is similar to the picture)). You can attempt to climb but the stones are wetted by the rain and slippery. You feel that to have a chance of reaching the top, you would need a rope and a grappling hook.

Teekan looks around the rubble to see if there are droppings that could indicate the presence of flying creatures entering or leaving the hole in the cornice. He also looks around to see if there are foot steps or a path that leads from the woods to the tower. He tries to determine if the barricaded door was to keep something in, or something out of the tower. Once he has collected this information, he sneaks back to the group to report. Guys, I didn't hear anything, and could not see inside. The door is barricaded (from the inside?), so I think it is safe for us to check it out. If someone has a grappling hook, they could check out the hole in the cornice, or we could try to break down the barricade. It would give us a good defensive location and a place to rest out of the rain?

There are no bird shit (or guano) around the watchtower but you notice that the ground around the entrance is trampled, with light paths in the grass toward different parts of the forest. The door is blocked from inside, like someone patched the hole left by the missing double door with wooden planks.

Well it seems as good a goblin hiding place as any. If you saw tracks and the entrance is blocked from the inside then we might as well try to break in and be done with it. Other than turning back and forgetting about this nonsense, we should just advance as a group and see what we encounter.

It's not a big enough structure to hide a goblin war party. And whatever barricaded the door needs a way out. Which makes me realize that their is something definitely wrong with that watchtower...there are no windows or arrow slits. Not much of a watchtower if you can't see whats coming, and you could get trapped inside since the door is the only entrance or exit. Still, it is the only shelter around, and if we take turns patrolling, we could avoid an ambush. What do you guys think? There must be a tunnel inside so that whoever barricaded the door can get out...

You go back to the tower as a group, with Morstad and Hilgrim watching your backs. At the entrance, Keltin applies a bit of his muscles to the barricade but he quickly realizes that it would need a more pronounced application of force to open it. He whispers this to the others and wait for instructions.
How do you go about forcing the barricade?

Guys, wait, maybe we should leave the door barricaded. If the hobgoblin war party comes to attack the tower, we can shoot them from the roof, they won't be able to get in to attack us. We could use ropes to climb to the roof. I really don't think there is anybody in there anymore, and if there is, it's probably not a hobgoblin. You see, the door was barricaded to protect against them, I think. If we need to get away, we can secure ropes just in case, and when it is time, we can throw them over the edge to get down. Just one problem with my plan, Daisy can't climb! Maybe we could lift her by rope?

Let us use your grappling hook and rope to climb in. Once we see what is keeping the door barricaded we can then decide on what to do with your mule.

I don't have a grappling hook, but I think I could lasso one of the edge stones on the cornice. It would be quieter. Teekan tries to lasso the roof. If he succeeds, he tests the rope, but lets someone else climb first. It's not that he doesn't trust the rope, it's more that he thinks someone tougher should be first to checkout what's in the tower.
